Hiya! I seem to have encountered a bug? Sorry if this has already been brought up. Attempting to use the goodies messes with the garden generator for me. Certain ones bork the garden when I hit the generate button, making everything invisible until I add another layer (grey_cat, pots'n_pans). Other ones bring up this hovering palette (grazing_goat, light_uni). In all cases the goodie doesn't appear. I'm using firefox for reference. I tried closing and opening the tab, restarting my browser, clearing my cache, to no avail. During the process of clearing the cache and thought I lost my entire collection... thank goodness for the backup feature! I've been using it! lol
I had that happen with an actual seed. Give me a hot minute and I'll see if I can replicate it.
...turns out the seed version is incredibly easy to replicate. Behold, a list of seeds generating a garden. Make one very specific typo in that list... and when you regenerate the garden, whatever comes after that typo (the territory marker, in this case) will be replaced by a pure red palette. This place is a message... and part of a system of messages... pay attention to it!

Sending this message was important to us. We considered ourselves to be a powerful culture.

This place is not a place of honor... no highly esteemed deed is commemorated here... nothing valued is here.

What is here was dangerous and repulsive to us. This message is a warning about danger.

The danger is still present, in your time, as it was in ours.

The danger is to the body, and it can kill.

This place is best shunned and left uninhabited.

Oh, I love this. I love how the three stacked gardens of the original makes it look like the town's on a hillside, with multiple levels.

Really enjoyed the column challenge so I started making more following the same restrictions! By which I mean I made one as a warmup and then dove headfirst into a very overcomplicated garden with uh. 15 ground layers to create the river(plus 2 more for the background). ^Nice normal warmup ^Uh oh ----- Edit as of 1043! Its done! 33 garden layers, 8 celestial layers, and 1 [forgor the name. Hills and all that] layer. 14 collection seeds used and 5(I think) catalogue seeds. All of the collection seeds were in the same column

Behold! Colors with names!

I left it open for editing because...I am a rather strange person, though I hope none of these reach the level of "you literally have to be me to get it". Also, to keep things at a reasonable length, I made sure every name fit within the default column instead of widening a single column to accommodate a long name. Anyone who edits it ought to do the same. For those colors that are in more than one color family, (I think) I kept the names consistent. Schwartzwald is Schwartzwald whether it's listed as verdant or dark.

EDIT: Since I used the first color of each palette for the background and the last color for the text, some of the dark ones may be a little hard to read. If you click on them, the name should show up just above the spreadsheet. Or I could just say that the really difficult ones are Dark Chocolate and Blue On Black.

Also, Pure Platinum and Fifth Dimension are the same palette reversed. I swear.

@Oranitha The answer to "how long have the two swaps had different inventories?" is "always!" QOL suggestion: option to sort by A, then B [...] Right now, within each base/color region/etc. sort option, all the matching seeds for each possible value "snap" to the order they were added to the collection. With the original non-saving "view collection" tool, you could brute-force a collection into a desired order - for example, have each base sorted by foliage color, and then each base and foliage color sorted by accent color... Now, it's a lot more difficult to achieve the same effect. (Sidenote, "sort by base" plus "rainbow" does something entertainingly weird that seems to be neither of those things, but maybe not chrono order either. I am.... perplexed.) EDIT: it IS chrono order, I just didn't pay close enough attention the first time I tried to work it out EDIT number 2: Have discovered the magic of Imgur Suggestion: format the "display" section of sorting options to linebreak between options instead of looping: Encountering a Random Square: is this the palette marker, or a bug? @Oranitha I've been poking around and was wondering, what if you wanted one of each base, all with the same colors? Like, all having strange green, celestial yellow, and pastel white palettes? How would you go about doing that? Would you have to find 2-3 plants with the right colors in the right spot to combine with each base? Sometimes when I look at the completion tracker the random color combo looks so good on everything that I want them all to have it but I'm not sure how to do it.

Has anyone else done this? Someone has to have at least wanted to. I don't know what to search for to find them in the thread though. XD

Also I love the suspicious bushes and benches, I need a million of them. ALSO ALSO I love the wave across the lines when you click a square on the bingo board and also the confetti when you tick an item on the to-do list! Those are just lovely touches. Also also also the shrub and stump are so CUTE.

edit: When making a garden, if I accidentally hit load there doesn't seem to be any way to exit the popup and I have to refresh the page. Is there something I'm missing? I use Chrome.

ouuugh sorry about the lack of responses, I'm road tripping and haven't had much down time. I'll be back home in a few days, and the rest of the party is unconscious (asleep, I didn't get THAT tired of people)...gonna avoid pings until I have a stable chunk of time, but!:

1. Color names are in! Apologies Vanshira, I didn't see your post ahead of that, but those are some slick names and will prolly work a few in.

2. My weird secret project is in a pushable state, so alpha squad should see it like...Sunday evening maybe. I think it'd be cool if I got it workable by the anniversary

3. Bingo on phones is...yeah, it's real bad. To-do list is getting a full rewrite (will take time but will, I hope, be worth it), but bingo! I should be able to use a similar system to the collection itself to save/restore state OK. I mean it's already halfway in, I just need to weave in all the stuff about selecting/deselecting categories. I also want to buff the number of categories you can select since I added new ones anyways.

4. ohh those gardens look so good

anyways these aren't really @ anyone in particular, more just me doing a heartbeat check. planning to be back sunday. yes we somehow managed to schedule this exactly over the top of the nature festival. no i don't know how oml

I hope you had a good trip!!! Have been experimenting with drafting bases that use transparency, but I've been finding that the current 100%/25%/10% limits options a lot. For example, this demo base uses all possible transparencies (100%, 25%, 10%, and 0%): It produces outcomes like this: The falloff from 100% to 25% is so harsh as to be unpleasant, and the 10% is so faint as to require me to boost my monitor brightness all the way up to see anything at all(!) From testing in GIMP, I think either moving the existing transparencies to 50%/20% (or 40%/15%) OR adding a 50% setpoint (if more replace operations doesn't vastly impact latency...) will expand the ways bases can use them effectively. WHINE TAX, here are some of my test bases! Fancy fences: A burrow for a....?: And A [s]prying [/s]scrying eye: (....Transparency use still needs some work.
