Evangeline

She grew up believing that with but a simple request, she would get what she wanted. Her mother, her father, and her siblings were all like her. Revered and placed on a pedestal she felt they did not deserve.. and why? Because her skin was made of crystal, her wings would shine and sparkle like a thousand diamonds and she was, to them, more beautiful than any dragon could ever imagine. She had the voice of an angel and that only made them love her more. They would ask her to sing, over and over again and it did not matter that she would sing the same song. She was given the name Evangeline for they felt as if no name could sound any sweeter, the perfect name for the perfect little girl.

Unfortunately, she had grown tired of this life and yearned for more. She wished to be able to do things on her own, to be able to explore without anyone fretting over her safety every second, she wanted freedom from this life; a life which was nothing but a cage, prettified in the hopes that their precious angel be satisfied. But alas, their efforts were in vain for Evangeline had had enough.

On the night that her father had announced her betrothal to a charming, yet fickle, young dragon she had fled. Fled from the ice palace that shone like crystal and flew into the night, never to be seen by her admirers again. She flew as fast as she could, her wings beating to a steady rhythm but she was not used to this. She was not used to having to fly long distances and soon she had grown tired. Below her, the Sunbeam Ruins beckoned, the warmth of the grass and the fresh air that did not hurt her nose when she breathed [unlike the chilly air of The Southern Icefield] and she landed, tucking her head underneath her wings and finally getting some sleep.

She woke up to the sound of beautiful music, a chorus of dragons singing and calling her closer but one voice stood out among the crowd. The voice was gentle and yet strong, it held so much power and yet it was humble. Evangeline moved closer, lured in by this beautiful voice and found herself looking at a Coatl. A Coatl of all dragons! But she was not like any other Coatl for her draconic was not broken and she spoke with elegance and grace. Evangeline took a step back, suddenly anxious.. what if she approached these dragons and they treated her the same way the others did back in her old home? Her fears, however, were dispelled as voice called out to her. "Do not be afraid, come out of the shadows and into the light! You are welcome here." she looked up to find the same Coatl, smiling at her. "I am Ellysiel, the Maestra of this clan. You seem lost, perhaps we can help you find your way." and with that simple invitation, Evangeline had found her home, a place among the singing dragons of the Sunbeam Ruins
