Histamine isn't malicious.
At least, we don't think so.
They're a bit of an odd one, to be true. Placidly friendly, always smiling to themself in a lackadaisical haze, thinking thoughts no one around them can glean. They breeze about their business, happily adorned with little flowers, and little bits of ivy, and not a care in the world and not enough attention paid to it. Not nearly enough. It's a common enough sight to see them whimsically bumbling into those about them, a whoops as their wing brushes along a passing face, an oopsie there as one of their unusual extra limbs finds a moment's rest upon a passing shoulder. Yes, Histamine is a pleasant sort, but they're simply not the best at watching their feet.
This would perhaps not be a problem, were it not for the effects of their touch.
They're very sorry, they say. They don't know why it happens, or why it only happens sometimes. They don't mean to cause trouble. But they do cause it nonetheless. A bump with Histamine leaves a wretched and painful rash in its wake, itchiness and redness and all sorts of unpleasantness settling into the scales and staying, staying, staying for much too long. Eyelids swell, throats dry up, dragons cough and sneeze and heave as stinging redness spreads its effects merrily over them. Hay fever in a pawprint, anaphylaxes in a clawstroke. Not deadly, no, never deadly, but miserable enough to make one wish.
Histamine doesn't do this on purpose, they say. They don't know how to control it. The unfortunate and unconscious convergence of Nature and Fire magicks that creeps out of them from time to time. But some wonder. No matter how far out of arms reach they're kept, still Histamine seems to tumble into the unaware. There's always someone whose toes are there to be stepped on, whose tails are there to be tripped over, even of those who try their best to stay clear of Histamine's path.
Sometimes, it seems, especially of those who try to stay clear.
Some wonder. About the blissful reverie that seems to send this cheerful pathogen knocking into their neighbors day after day. About the dreamy smiles and cloudy eyes that just can't be seen into. About the lingering and the watching and the interest reserved only for those under the weather of their poor accidental victims.
About the fact that, after all this time, Histamine has never really seemed bothered by any of it.
But no one would go so far as to accuse them. Why would they do this on purpose, after all? Surely it can't be fun for them. Watching others creep away with affected discretion, quiet discomfort and dread reserved just for them. Seeing the sick and ailing of their own creating, hacking and groaning and scratching at hives that allow them peace. Surely they wouldn't be enjoying this plight.
Surely not...?
