Fern is the self-appointed librarian for the clan. Her love of reading is common knowledge among her fellows, as is her painstakingly strong urge to collect as much reading material as she can despite the monetary cost. She is the not the type to be greedy with her bounty, however, and is happy to lend books and scrolls to those who ask politely (and, in the case of her more rare items, offer something up for collateral.) Tucked into her sweater is a tidy list of who is currently in possession of her tomes, and she is sure to relentlessly pester those who seem to be unreliable with deadlines. She's even been known to bug Mint, who has a habit of "forgetting" which books belong to Fern and which belong in her personal collection. Fern suspects that her leader does this on purpose, as there are always drinks and snacks conveniently prepared when she arrives at Mint's loft, and Mint will always be eager to strike up conversation with her "unexpected guest." Fallout dragons jokingly refer to her as a terror and a loan shark, finding her more endearing than intimidating, though those who actually cross her (as few and far-between as they are) will find themselves in a world of hurt. Fern is rough, resilient, and has no shortage of moxie despite her size; the few dragons who underestimate her or attempt to purloin her treasures will be met with a thorough thrashing. To add insult to injury, she will then add the offending dragon to a blacklist so she doesn't forget to never lend books to them again. She has a hidden trove of magical items, including breed changing scrolls and similar relics based on augmentation. These are the most sought-after pieces of her collection, and she is quite picky about what she will accept in return. |
