Mauve is an artist, a lover of painting especially. He primarily enjoys depicting scenes of nature, like flowers, birds, and insects. His works have made it into a few galleries, a fact which he does not care very much about, and are rather well liked by those familiar with them. He sometimes gets requests to do commissions, but this is a horrible idea, as he is very easily distracted and is likely to completely forget about the commissioned artwork and the person who asked for it and not get it done for years, if ever. The few who have received commissions for him note some other problems as well, including bite marks on the artwork and him having deviated quite a bit from what they requested he draw for them.

He has an unfortunate habit of sticking his paintbrushes in his mouth when he is thinking, and also often confuses his cup of paint water for whatever other drink he has, meaning he consumes quite a lot of paint. There are even rumors going around, mostly spread by hatchlings who think he is weird, that he likes the taste of paint and will intentionally eat it. Despite these rumors being unconfirmed, some paint suppliers have started refusing business to him, not wanting to risk him getting them in trouble if their paints are toxic to ingest. Unfortunately, this means he sometimes has to make his own paints, out of random things he finds in the forest and doesn't bother confirming to be non-toxic...
