Helblindi

Helblindi’s charge is a murky pond in the tangled wood, not too far from the border with the sea of a thousand currents. It isn’t much larger than himself, about 75 feet across. His den is carved out of the bank, and is nearly as large as the lake itself, though one can’t tell from the opening. The water is too polluted and salty to be of drinking quality, but he does swim in it on occasion, dirtying his scales to a greenish hue. Though it seems lifeless and worthless, Helblindi has observed an array of small hardier local creatures sustaining themselves on it. In the pond itself, there are no fish or any other noticeable organisms, but he senses that it is actually teeming with life in the form of microorganisms, and wishes to defend and further their development because of their great potential.

Helblindi's sight isn't very good, so he observes more by intuition, smell, and sound.
