Neirin
Chieftain of the Windwalker Tribe | Male | Determined

Neirin's story begins when he was just a teenage dragon. Having been born in a Plague clan, he grew up in tough conditions, never feeling like he really belonged. Neirin had attempted to tell his parents this, but all they responded with was, "of course you belong here, you are a Plague dragon through and through." Unable to make them listen, Neirin decided to leave his clan in search of a place where he could belong. In the middle of the night, he quietly slipped out of his parent's den and ran off, his wings not yet big enough to carry his weight. It only took ten minutes for him to realize how unprepared he was for such a journey. He didn't want to go back, but he hadn't learned how to hunt yet. Looking back in the direction he had come from, he recalled something his parents had told a few years ago, "a plague dragon always learns to adapt, they are strong and to give up means weakness." With this in mind, Neirin continued on, determined to survive on his own.

It only took three days before the hunger set in. His wings still weren't big enough to carry him through the skies but he had no other choice. He had to hunt. Sniffing the air, he tried to pick up the scent of any nearby animals. After a couple of minutes, a faint smell of deer filled the air. Neirin followed the smell, and only when it grew stronger did he begin to tread quietly and press closely to the ground. Using his green scales to his advantage, he slunk into a nearby bush. Peeking through the leaves on the bush, he spotted a herd of deer grazing in the field before him. He only had once chance to catch one. With his stomach empty and having traveled for days on foot, his energy was low and he couldn't afford to chase one. He patiently waited until a young deer moved a little closer to his hiding spot, the creature unaware of the danger. Finally, when he decided it was close enough, he burst from his hiding spot and launched himself at the deer. It turned to run away, and just when Neirin though he had lost his prey, his claws managed to get a grip into the soft hide. He quickly pulled the deer down with his remaining strength and silenced it with a quick bite to it's throat, killing it instantly. He had done it! He had managed to kill a deer all on his own and even without his wings. A strong feeling of pride filled him, and he happily tucked into his meal, devouring nearly all of the deer's body.

Months passed, during which Neirin grew into his wings and became a strong hunter. It was on a windy day, that Neirin saw her for the first time. She was yellow and blue perfection, unlike any dragon he had ever seen before. Neirin didn't believe in love at first sight, but he almost believed it in that moment. Determined to win her affections, he began planning on how he'd court her. Stealthily, he follower her. As she fly higher into the sky, he began to make out large floating masses. As they grew closer, he almost froze in amazement at the sight before him. Large rocks, covered in trees, some with waterfalls running off them floated before him. Thick vines connect some, others off on their own. Hundreds of dragons filled the sky as they traveled about. Neirin quickly shook himself out of it, looking around quickly trying to find the imperial. Finally, he managed to find her, watching as she landed on a considerably large rock, disappearing from sight. Once he memorized which rock he had seen her land on, he flew off to find what he would need for his courtship.

Two weeks passed, during which he brought her many gifts. Some of which were little castles made from sand then crystalized from his fire, others were food. Some of the gifts were even chests he had managed to dig up, filled to the brim with treasure, trinkets, and other shiny things. On the last day of the second week, when he went to bring her another gift, she approached him and told him he had to prove himself no more. "I Sycora, officially invite you to our tribe. I offer you a home and my love, should you accept." There was no question about what his answer would be. Neirin had finally found a home where he felt like he would belong. He found a mate, fathered many dragons who eventually themselves had left the nest, and earned himself a place as the emperor of the Windwalker Tribe. With Sycora ruling at his side, he vowed to protect his new home with all his strength, and if anyone was to come to them looking for a new home, he would gladly take them in.
