The bell tingled, announcing the arrival of customers. Laughter filled the shop as three bustling hatchlings ran in. Their mother entered soon after. "Sister! I'm here to collect some herbs. I hope you don't mind." "Of course not! Make yourself at home," I replied. Three pairs of big eyes stared over the countertop as the mother disappeared into the storage room. "Aunty! Aunty!" The three chanted in unison. "Story?" A chuckle. These three always bring such vitality to the shop, and they're ever so curious. "Well, let me think. Recently, a peculiar traveller visited my shop..."

The door bell announced the entry of a young fae strolling into the shop - a hood draped over his head, casting his face in shadow. "Sorry to bother!" He had a kind voice. The fae stopped at the shopkeeper's counter and removed his hood to reveal two mesmerising eyes. They were bright orange, typical of a fire dragon, but they shone like gems and flickered as if alive. Small fires danced within his eyes. "Huh, sorry. What did you say?" the shopkeeper asked sluggishly. The fae smiled softly. "I wanted to know if I could ask you a question?" The shopkeeper shook her head to try and clear it. "Yes, yes, of course. What do you want to know, dear?" "I'm searching for a specific type of plant or herb, but its name eludes me." The fae looked down apologetically. The shopkeeper's heart softened. "That's all good. Can you perhaps explain what it looks like? Maybe I can guess from your description." The fae's face brightened. "I can try my best to explain! I've heard it has a light-coloured flower that tends to glow brightly when magic is used near it." "Oh! That sounds like a Dayglo Thresh. It is a very unique plant. Who knows why it evolved to have such an effect? It tends to glow bright yellow or orange. Does that ring a bell?" The fae paused to think. "That does sound like the plant I'm imagining. Fascinating trivia indeed!" "We should have some in storage. Do you want me to go get you some?" The fae smiled kindly. "I appreciate it, but that wouldn't be necessary. I've gotten everything I need for now. Thank you for the information. I'll be off then." He donned his hood and left the shop as quickly as he came. Outside, he seemed to radiate a soft glow. When the shopkeeper blinked, the fae was gone as if he had never been there.

"Even stranger was that after he left, I went to look for the Dayglo in storage. But I couldn't find any. It was as if I never had them in the first place. I was stared at by the empty space where those plants were supposed to be. They've disappeared just like the strange traveller." "Woah! That's so cool!" the one hatchling said. "Is he a ghost?" the second one asked. "How could he just disappear?" the last one chirped. Their mother returned from the storage room with pouches of herbs tucked into her satchel. She placed a bag of coins on the counter. "You know, you don't need to pay for them, right?" I said. "I know, but I must keep my sister's business running somehow. Especially if stock and customers disappear." She winked. "Oh wow," I laughed. "Come visit again soon, though. I always miss you." "Bye-bye, Aunty!" the three hatchlings yelled as they followed their mother out of the shop. With the excitement gone, I turned to stare out the window. "And yet, I still remember his striking eyes."
