The Plunderer

For glory and might.

A shooting star...

Lyrrkril watched the star fall over Cindercone's territory and has wisely steered clear.

*

As usual, the Wavecrest Saturnalia brings opportunity to bring in sand dollars for richer rewards. As such, Lyrrkril is out and about.

*

Greenskeeper Gathering has been fairly productive for Lyrrkril, though she disdains the cycle's apparel.
10209.png

Lyrrkril, former bandit queen of the Scarred Wasteland, is now a dragon in flux. She has found herself drawn in to this strange Fire clan, but her desire for plunder and battle are unlikely to be satisfied in their boundaries.

In person, Lyrrkril is frequently a font of restless energy. Her plans, pent-up and endlessly reworked, are caught between her unslakable desire for glory and the fear that she will become like Rennic, a madman content to be imprisoned. So far, this has led her to a temporary lull in operations.

While most of her raiding forces are ephemeral, opportunistic wild mirrors looking for plunder or beastclans seeking war, Lyrrkril has a few constant friends. Of these, her closest partner is Relhuar, a corven surgepriest who has entered a familiar-bond with her. She also commonly fights with Sunscald, a rogue doctor of similar affiliations, and Valarauko, a mysterious wandering swordsdrake. Her relationship with Kellinlii started out rather ambiguously, but she has come to trust the tundra despite her reservations. With the rest of the clan, she is mostly aloof but friendly enough with others who like a good fight.

Physical description
Lyrrkril is a lean, long-faced mirror with striking, metallic hide. Her wing-membranes are somewhat rotted, stained with a rainbow of fungus and bacterial growth, and spurs of bone jut along her spine and sides. Supremely graceful on land, she is a competent swimmer and an excellent climber. She is, however, a poor and reluctant flyer, having learned to only as an adult. She has an acrid, chemical smell, often tinged with smoke.

Combat
Lyrrkril is a top-tier warrior, using speed and agility to slip into the middle of the fray, strike, then slip away before her opponents can retaliate. She uses a mix of raking bites and shallow scratches to wear stronger opponents down, overwhelming weaker foes with a sharp, cat-like pounce. Whenever possible, she fights in a team with Sunscald and Valarauko, though she also partners occasionally with Kellinlii.

763.png
Origin
A native of the Abiding Boneyard, Lyrrkril left her apathetic hatching-clan at a young age to live feral in the Wandering Contagion. Her territory overlapped that of the mad mirror Siragesh, and, intrigued by her children and their tales of a war against a Water clan, she fell in with them before she had even fledged. Despite being counted as "cannon fodder", she was determined to win glory.

Six seasons of deadlocked siege and slow attrition ground away most of her hope, leaving her fighting out of spite and stubbornness. Even her ambition turned bitter at the end of the war, however, when Rennic's suicidal endgame became suddenly evident. She fled the final battle, heading for the Shifting Expanse.

For reasons as yet unknown, Lyrrkril was caught in the fringes of Derecho Canyon's trial. Warned off by a near lightning-strike, she made for the Scarred Wasteland instead. After a season on the road, she at last found herself back in her hatching-grounds. Frustrated and restless, she took to banditry, hoping to earn both plunder and a name for herself.

For several seasons, Lyrrkril reigned supreme as bandit queen of the Scarred Wasteland.

192.png
Kin
Lyrrkril is the daughter of a crystal-furred tundra and a large, antlered mirror, and as such the few memories she has of her kin are thoroughly contaminated by her history in Rennic's army. She has several siblings and half-siblings, none of whom managed to escape their hatching-clan save through Exaltation to Plaguebringer herself. Beyond that, her recorded ancestry is long but unremarkable. As she left to be feral before even fledging, Lyrrkril has no knowledge of her kin beyond fragmented hatchling-memories, and has yet to seek out any of this information.

For reasons uncertain, Lyrrkril prominently displays traits of her tundra, guardian, and skydancer heritage. The mirror herself has no explanation for this, though she has at length been forced to confront it. The leading hypothesis is that her chimerical nature is an experiment on her parents' part, presumably to create an effective warrior.

The Waterway Guide

Clear waters may still hold poison.

A shooting star...

Relhuar wonders what sort of fallout will come from the Arcane intrusion into Fire. An advantage, or a plague? He will scry.

*

As usual, Relhuar welcomes the boost to his scrying and to his element in general at Wavecrest Saturnalia.

15115.png

Relhuar is a surgepriest, a corven who specializes in communicating with the spirits of the water, soothing offenses and bargaining favors. He claims his domain offers the most freedom and power—the dragon-god of waters is asleep, and while he dreams other powers grow and flourish. He can summon any number of minor spirits, and has an unerring ability to find water, even in the parching depths of the Boneyard or the chaotic fires of the Ashfall Waste. Besides that, he is an expert in various standing illusions, snares, jinxes, and cantrips, often setting them up wherever he and the mirror camp and cawing with malicious laughter whenever any unfortunate peregrine wanders into one.

As with many things. Relhuar masks his true allegiances and motives with mockery, and responds to most requests he does not feel like honoring in the same way. He does appear to genuinely like Lyrrkril, whatever his other motives. He is also fond of Kellinlii and has struck up a relationship with Khohuark based largely on continuous chains of mockery and theft. He has a familiar of sorts of his own—several little minor spirits that he occasionally calls to swirl around him, which resemble the nocturne-chest guardians that rose in the deltas.

Relhuar is decidedly closer with Cindercone Clan proper than his partner, and is seeking to recruit a new talanok nest for their neighbors. He professes a strong dislike of Kaichi's bloodsports, but has been known to bet on dragon-versus-beast battles.

(overhaul pending when we get new corven lore)

Physical description
Relhuar is fairly large for a corven, broad-shouldered with a swimmer's muscles. His dark feathers are an impressive, morpho-like blue. Like most corven, he is somewhat clumsy on foot, and often skips when trying to keep up with his mirror partner's walking pace.

Combat
Relhuar is a mage, like every corven of his profession, and a middle-rank warrior. He has no compunctions about using underhanded tactics, and will swiftly pepper any field of battle with illusions, snares, and jinxes. Where possible, such as his homeland on the Windswept Plateau, he will raise walls of mist to act as cover. Aside from battering waves and bolts of water, Relhuar's favorite combat spells are stinging little jinxes that he flings with great accuracy into the eyes and noses of opponents.

7105.png
Origin
Relhuar encountered Lyrrkril and Kellinlii at the border of Wind and Plague as the two uneasy allies hunted for nocturne chests. Evidently impressed by their battle-prowess, he promised to aid their search with his divinations if they would allow him to join one of them.

Evidently the surge priest has wandered through the Abiding Boneyard before, as he seems strangely at ease in the environment; but when and why remain unaswered.

6348.png
Kin
Relhuar's hatching-clan is heavily involved in the Uprising. According to the corven, he has fairly little contact with them, and virtually no sympathies with their cause—as evidenced by his association with a dragon. His mocking tone and lack of any straight answer, however, make his tale rather dubious. He was on good terms with the Rogue's Camp's talanok, but they are far from his birth clan in both geography and politics.
