SnowFall

Snowfall stood at the edge of Roseveil Hollow, watching the mist weave through trees, casting shadows that breathed with life. He’d grown up within their embrace, but tonight his gaze stretched beyond the borders, toward lands of unending daylight and night—places where the Midnight Sun and Eternal Night held sway.

Beside him, Fade, the Hollow’s guardian, listened as he explained his longing to witness these far-off extremes. At last, he nodded and handed him a small leather journal. “This path is unfamiliar,” he said, “but it’s worth treading. Record what you find; it will be invaluable to those here.”

As is Hollow tradition, he must soon embark on his own journey across Sornieth and relay his discoveries to those left behind. Taking his first steps outside the only home he's ever known, Snowfall’s heart raced, the journal in his claws a token of permission and trust.

He imagined writing down sights of tundras bathed in perpetual light, then of stars reigning supreme in endless night. He felt like a part of the Hollow itself was setting out with him, drawn into this very journal. When he returned, his words would bring home glimpses of distant wonders, adding to the legacy of the Roseveil Hollow.

At the end of his journey, will he look different? Become stronger? Meet someone special? Perhaps all three and more?
