ACROPORA
NAOMI G5 (MOREL)
AUSRA G5 This sacred decay. . . Fashioned from the decayed dust of a fractured clay sculpture, this golem first appeared on the shores of a distant island in the Sea of a Thousand Currents. It is imbued with artistic love and a will to aid. It is said that it will attempt to restore what is broken, using gifts bestowed by Achlya and the Crescent Isle. This is the tale of the golem called Acropora. |
It was a bright day out. The sun shone warmly on a rock outcrop near the shore. Blue and pink lights danced on the smooth stone as the sun reflected off the iridescent scales of a stone-carved being. Achlya wrapped her tail around her perching stone as she shifted into a more comfortable position. Today will be a good day. Achlya settled and listened to the noises around her: the soft lapping of waves, the cries of seabirds and the clacking of crab claws. The crunching sound of paws on the wet sand interrupted the calm sounds, and Achlya turned to watch the approaching dragons. There were two – a gold and black Wildclaw escorted a purple and brown Banescale hatchling. When they spotted her, the hatchling flapped excitedly, causing a bag clutched in their tail to swing wildly. "Hey!" the Wildclaw called out. "Sorry to bother you, but Smokii kept insisting on seeing the mermaid- that the mermaid can fix things." The nickname she'd received due to her sparkling scales and fishlike tail made Achlya smile. "What's- wrong?" Smokii placed the previously swinging bag before Achlya, and Achlya opened it to find clay shards. "What- is this?" "Broken," Smokii yapped. The Wildclaw smiled awkwardly. "It is pieces of broken pottery - small sculptures destroyed by an unfortunate bump. It was a creation by-" His voice cracked, and his words caught in his throat. A suggestion of a lost loved one hid behind his silence. "I was going to throw it out, but Smokii insisted we come here for help." "I'll see- what I- can do," Achlya said with a sympathetic smile, "but they wouldn't- be the same. They will be- destroyed before- they are recreated." Achlya picked at fragments of the broken pottery to inspect it. Paint still clung to the surfaces - the bright colours matching the happy faces of the set of dragons these represented. Lots of love was put into this creation. Hopefully, Achlya can mend what was broken. A siren's song flowed through the air as Achlya hummed and got to work. Golden spores shimmered as they devoured the clay fragments. The resultant dust was swept away and turned into wet clay by currents of water spilling from Achlya's paws. Blue fire followed, baking the clay back into hardened shapes of dragons. For the final touches, sand, feathers, water flowers, and driftwood were used to decorate the sculptures. Achlya took out her craft kit to start painting the sculptures, but she stopped. A familiar signal pulsed from the sculptures before her. These sculptures... no gole- The set of five dragons slowly shifted underneath the warm sun, dust falling as their joints moved for the first time. Their eyes opened to reveal blue pearls that glinted in the sunlight. And underneath it all, a network of mycelium bloomed, telling Achlya's own that these creations were very much alive. "This is- not what I- intended." A soft gasp escaped the Wildclaw. "If only she could see them now. They're perfect." Smokii flapped excitedly around the newly created golems. The Wildclaw gathered the golems, promising Achlya to raise them well and send them to loving homes. As the pair walked away, the Wildclaw turned one last time. "Oh right, I'm Uruk. Thank you."
