Biography
-hewn from rock-
The creator of the Order of the Living Stone.
No one knows where Onyx came from. He simply appeared one day with the stated goal to protect lesser dragons from whatever troubles may befall them, and has carried that goal out since then. The latest rumor is that he sprang unbidden from a large chunk of onyx many years ago, taking the form of a dragon upon doing so. The rumor seems to be corroborated by his rather unusually rocky appearance, but he's never said one way or another on it.
It was not long before Onyx realized he could not protect the world from injustice on his own, and so the Order of the Living Stone was born. It was an organization intended to train and aid young crystal dragons into knights, though initially, the only members of it were Onyx's children. Since then, the Order has grown, and yet, Onyx's children have abandoned it, leaving to serve other clans or deities than the ones they were born under. The only one who remains is Calcite, who has taken the creed of the Order to heart, and yet, Onyx knows she only remains because she has not found her charge.
For now, Onyx remains as the highest ranking member of the Order. Traditionally, prospective members of the Order are meant to visit him in his cave and gain his blessing before pursuing a path as a squire. The cave lies deep within a mountain range and is filled with onyx crystals, glistening in shades of black and gold alike, and Onyx lies in the very back of it, waiting for new arrivals. On rare occasions, Onyx goes on pilgrimages, which commonly last a year or two, so he can see the world and how it's changed, and helping other dragons when he can.
