Cheshire's definitely one strange Coatl.

Whispers among the clan say he was once a Pearlcatcher. The pearl he carries around is solid proof of the rumor. Cheshire doesn't mind all the talk about him, he simply gives everyone his famous full-toothed smile and continues on his merry way.

Often, someone has to trail behind Cheshire when he wanders off - there's been ample times where he's gotten lost for days on end until a search party comes across him caught in some stormcloud, drifting over the Windsinger's lands. None of his "adventures" bother him to any extent, although they cause his clanmates worry.

Some speculate that it's his bucktooth digger that causes the problems, although Cheshire would defend the rabbit to his death. The two met when Cheshire was still a Pearlcatcher, wandering around - he bumped into the rabbit, who led him deep into the Windswept Plateu. No one knows quite what happened, but he returned to the clan as a Coatl.

Cheshire's favorite activity is sneaking up behind his clanmates and startling them with a random quote. About 89% of the quotes have absolutely nothing to do with the prior conversation, and about 11% are eerily similar to whatever was being discussed before the interruption. No one quite knows how he does it. It just... happens. In fact, "it just happens" is a good way to describe most of Cheshire's behavior.

In fact, neither of the leaders remember how he came into the clan. He just... showed up one day, sat down, and made himself a home. He wasn't a freeloader by any means - doing his portion of clanwork - but he never truly seemed all there. However, most of his clanmates enjoy his presence, as it's always a fun surprise with whatever's going on in Cheshire's head.
