Called "Whiskers" by the clan due to his tertiary gene, Whiskers was one of the oldest Aether aboard the Astrolab upon its "uncontrolled reentry into the atmosphere." Despite the jarring way with which he was introduced to the ocean, the Aether discovered a fondness for swimming, the weightlessness reminding him of his life in the stars. After his group made their way to the shore and began migrating and settling across Sornieth, Whiskers settled in Gestalt, the Sea of a Thousand Currents proving to be even more relaxing waters for swimming than those he crashed into.

The clan doesn't know whether the Aether lost his voice during the crash, or if he was born mute or developed the condition later in life. They immediately accepted him regardless, with the clan already having other quiet or mute dragons. Whiskers communicates by writing his messages on a notepad (he will tear a filled page out and eat it when it is complete), and while he has stated that he accepts Whiskers as a nickname, he has yet to share his true name with the clan. Perhaps someday, in his own time, or perhaps, the old Aether simply prefers his new name.

Whiskers works with the builders of the clan, helping to ensure that all areas are accessible by dragons less capable of flight or with old joints like his. He also enjoys tinkering on accessibility aids and prosthetics for use within the clan or as gifts to allies.
