This dragon descends from a lineage cursed by something ancient and knowable - a force of nature slumbering far beneath the Ashfall Waste, who once doomed their ancestors Reese and Shine to maws full of jagged metal and breath as noxious as the Flintlock Fumaroles. Prior to such an encounter - one that they refuse to speak of - Reese was a lumbering Tundra who followed intuition more than plans, and Shine was a tiny fae who busied her claws and kept Reese out of trouble. Now the two of them are massive hulking Undertides, bodies warped to carry the curse that burdens them so. There isn't a single dragon who knows what happened while these two left on their years-long travels, only that they were searching for Flamecaller. This makes less sense than meaningless wandering - for Mather is not lost - but it is the only answer that most dragons will ever get.

This curse is carried throughout their bloodline, manifesting in different ways across a variety of breeds. Some dragons may escape this curse, through genetic intervention or the mere absence of visible presentations, and this is one such case. They hatched free of this curse, with no sign of the jagged teeth of their ancestors or any other known manifestation of such scale-infused metals. Though they are not promised freedom forever - it is possible that they doom themselves all over again, should they alter their genes and taunt the curse out to the surface. Likewise does it pass further on into their offspring, either dormant Emberglow Bloodline like this dragon or perhaps warped and presenting, should the introduction of new genetics bring it forth once more.
