Valora The Border guard |Protector●| " It's not a light matter to me. I've fought for so long to hold on to what I believe in. People call me weird or disgusting...but this is who I am. This is how I feel most like myself." _________________________________________ Why she never acted like a "proper" female dragon. Why she never yielded to the other males, but stood amongst them like she belonged. Valora was male. He had always wanted the others to understand and know what he was going through. They treated him a little differently, now, but he had caught a few of the younger dragons call him a freak. Valora hated it when they did that. They were all the same. Regardless of gender, they were all children born in the darkness of the Shadowbinder. All of them. What did it matter to them that he had felt so much more comfortable as a male? They were all dragons. The clan leaders understood him, though. Valora had been assigned the role of a border guard, tasked with protecting the clan's boundaries and keep outsiders and hostiles away. He was still jumpy and on edge when visitors came in though. He was good at his job that way. And he knew that the others appreciated his efforts. Even though they treated him a little differently. Valora got extra food sometimes, when he had done exceptionally well. He didn't mind. It was tough guarding a lair in the middle of Wispwillow Grove. The shadows seemed to move of their own accord, winding and twisting in the trees. But he managed. It helped that he could mostly see in the dark and differentiate between friend or foe. And extra rations were always welcome. At least some of the clan understood him. They called him the pronouns he preferred, and would always apologize if they used it incorrectly. Valora didn't mind correcting them. He quite liked it here. And besides, there weren't many clans who would take in dragons like him. Where else would he go and still feel welcome?
