Biography
Komma had always been an exemplary student of the arcane arts. His feathers and fur match his element perfectly, which he took great pride in. While he lived more on the outskirts of the Starfall Isles he had hoped to one day move closer to the Observatory- but this plan is put indefinitely on hold.
~
“Hey, wake up!” The skydancer came to with a start, craning his neck to peer out of his lair at the... morning sunlight. Crap.
Immediately scrambling into motion he grabbed a weathered satchel off a shelf and hurriedly slid it over his neck before darting over to another, much more messy shelf. Grabbing a few items off of it he stuffed them into the bag around his neck before zipping out of his little home.
Outside a pastel blue spiral laughed fondly from where he was looped around a tree. “I’ve been trying to wake you up for almost half an hour. How late did you stay up last night, dummy?”
Komma made an anxious sort of sound. “Take a guess. I was supposed to be there already; aaah they’re gonna kill me..” He hurled himself up into the sky, spreading magenta wings. “I hope they don’t start without me.”
The spiral below shifted on his perch. “I’m sure you’ll do fine, Komma. Watch you win the scholarship and get invited to the big cities; you sure deserve it.” He smiled sadly. “Just remember to write if you move away, yeah? I’ll miss you.”
From above Komma swooped down to tap the spiral’s snout with a claw. “I would never forget you, you know that.” Flapping his wings he rose again, circling once before shooting off towards the faint silhouette of a small town.
Thank goodness the flight was short. Once he could see the cobbled streets he landed. Easier to run instead of dealing with the air traffic above, because deities above it was busy today. All the novice mages in the area had come to show their skills at a talent showing of sorts. Winning meant a jump in prestige- and a chance to get closer to the capitol. Komma had to admit he was nervous, going over what he wanted to show off with his eyes focused on thoughts instead of the road ahead.
Which was why he stepped on the tail of a light flight pearlcatcher who was equally focused on imbuing her pearl with her magic.
Instinctively the pearlcatcher turned, partially out of surprised and partially because talons digging into your tail really hurt, and shoved him off with glowing yellow claws. Komma fell heavily, winded. He heard a gasp of shock from the dragon he had accidentally startled but thought nothing of it until he moved his talons forward to push himself up- and saw the whispy yellow moving across his scales.
Oh. No, having light magic trapped trapped in his hide definitely wasn’t part of his plan.
