- Best friends with Roxas and Xion.

- Largely raised himself on the lower platform, though received help from time to time by the older dragons, though he doesn't admit that. As a result of having been a troublemaker and stubborn about receiving too much help, he's street smart and has good survival skills.
- He hunts with the knight in training Elisa, though makes no effort to actually join the Clan Knights and become her real partner as he sees knighthood as more of a pain than anything.
- Though Elisa is his hunting partner, Axel often tries to brush off his conversations with her, as she frequently voices her concern (and disapproval) with his neutral attitude, which he finds rather annoying on top of her do-gooder personality. Though they don't always get along, they do value one another's friendship and have come to secretly enjoy their somewhat frequent bickering.
