Lavender was sickly and weak when she hatched. She's the runt of Yin's first clutch. Her wings were weak and sluggish, her eyesight was poor, and many would have considered putting her out of her misery before she could even stand.

Then Deryn had the bright idea of fashioning some materials into apparel for her. The goggles were made to improve her sight, the mechanical wings restored her ability to fly, and the gloves and spats strengthened her legs so she could walk and stand as well as the next dragon. The vest helps to add more protection with her weaker-than-normal ribs, and helps with her breathing.

The bauble's mainly for decoration, and the scarf was made by Yin to keep her warm.

Lavender might not be the healthiest dragon, but at least she has her clan mates to help her. And it's an added bonus that all her stuff just makes her look awesome!

Lavender does not fight, and avoids them whenever possible. If her apparel were to ever be damaged, she grows weaker. For example, if you removed her silver wings, she wouldn't be able to fly anymore.
