When only a small Wildclaw hatchling, this little one's parents, Icon and Pearl, were on the verge of migrating outwards as did all other dragons remaining in her lair. In all the chaos and confusion, the little hatchling was lost by her clan. Her parents called and searched for her, just as the little Wildclaw called and searched, but the world is a big place, and never again did they meet. Searching for her parents, the young one was a long way from others, the land around her mostly abandoned and thus she struggled to survive. Though she mourned and searched and called but still she found no one. She had a fortitude that kept her alive, however, and though she struggled, with a bit of luck, she as able to scrape by. As she grew she learned, soon luck turned to intention and survival became experience. It wasn't long before she wandered into a barren land wrought with disease. The creatures who lived here were tough, and Wildclaw had to learn all over again how to survive.

Eventually she came across a large dragon, skin hanging off bone, pustules large and simmering with toxic death. Large and surrounded by ther dragons, all equally affected by the plague yet they seemed to serve this large being with joy and reverence. The large dragon turned her head, noticing the newcomer and the lost dragon heard a few calls of "Mother", was this her mother? Mother loked at her with deep red eyes boring into her soul, like she was already infested with all that this being was. The power radiated and the Wildclaw felt even if she could run, those tendrils would find her.
"You have the look of one who has been through hardship.." She hissed as if she could see every moment of the fledgling's life up until now, "Fought to survive, like us."
Those last two words resonated deep within the young dragon, 'Like us' she was like these other dragons, they knew her. After being alone for so long, the simple thought of belonging triggered a longing in her that she hadn't felt since she was very small. She puffed out her chest and raised her head proudly. She could not yet form words but Mother seemed to understand,
"You are not of the Plague yet, but if you have made it this far... perhaps there is a place for you here. There is a way to become one of us."
The great dragon pointed a putrid talon towards a bubbling lake, thick with grot and grime, pustules burst out of it as they mimicked the Mother's body. It sent a shiver down the Wildclaw's spine, but she was a survivor, just like Mother said and if she were to belong here then she'd finally have a famiy, something she'd never known.
"If you survive the Wyrmwound, you become one of us."
The young dragon knew fear as a response to the dark, to creatures lurking beyond her sight, but now she found it responding to the bubbling, ozzing pit. Another desire was just as strong, however, the desire to belong and the desire to not be alone. As she stood on the edge, she had the notion that should she do as Mother said, there'd be no turning back. One chapter of her life would be closed forever, and a new one would open, but she was ready.

Burning and cold all at once, it filled her nose and her mouth prying deep inside her, filling her, eating her alive. Time had no place here, and what occured could have taken a day or a year, she knew not. It ravaged her body and she felt it being pulled apart, rippling and shifting. The Wyrmwound was alive and it was voracious.
"You fought to survive, like us." the words echoed in her mind, and she held onto them even as her mind began to pull and loop. One thought lead to the next and chased the first, around and around her mind chased itself as soon the thoughts of one became the thoughts of two.
"Must survive." A voice her own, yet not her own. Her? Their. The voice was their own, yet not. Another voice echoed agreement. No longer alone, the young dragon began to kick and fight, clawing their way up and up until her front limbs grasped the slimy edge of the infested lake. Bit by bit, muscles rippled and wings beat down the sucking liquid until they were able to drag themselves out of the reaching pit. Exhausted and panting hard, they shivered, body fighting and assimilating the ooze that had infected their very being. They felt eyes on them, peircing eyes, waiting and watching. Dragging themselves upright, their body was not as they remembered, they no longer stood on their two hind-legs but on all four, their body was heavier and more muscled. Another dragon had joined them on the edge and they growled to warn it off. But when they looked, both recognised each other, a strange sensation of looking at oneself in a pool's reflection, yet seeing someone else at the same time,
"You are me." The ram-horned head's voice echoed in the mind of the other,
"You are me." The other answered,
"We are not each other." The first continued as understanding flowed between them. Never again would they be alone. What was one is now two, but two together had survived.

"A survivor indeed. Have you a name?" Mother hissed, closer than she had been before, watching them with feirce approval. Both heads shook,
"We have no name." Said the long-horned head,
"We are as we came." Added the other, "Since a hatchling we were alone."
"With no family and no home."
The Mother seemed unsurprised, and the newly formed Dragon realised they must not be the first, perhaps others who'd been discarded had found their way here too,
"You are now my children," The Mother said, her voice like a thousand hissing insects, "You must continue to survive, we leave only the strongest standing in our wake. As you too thrive, you shall be named Zeit and Geist."
"Yes, Mother. We are yours. We survive." Said Zeit,
"We will honour you, Mother. We will see that Plague does thrive." Continued Geist.
The two turned to the other dragons, the ones surrounding Mother, their new family. They filled their lungs, and together they roared a deep rumbling battle cry.
They were here and they had lived.
