Makishima lives quite a distance from the rest of the clan, with only the company of her familiar and her plants to pass the time. She makes her home north-west of the Great Furnace close to the Windswept Plateau, where plants are much easier to grow and harvest. She rarely leaves this solitary home she has made, except in times when there is war or sickness within the clan.

If her abilities are required for any other reason, she usually sends out her apprentice, Pyp, to take care of it. You can also see her young apprentice frantically running around all of Sornieth to collect plants and herbs that she is unabel to grow herself.

A bit of a recluse, Makishima comes off as a bit distant with her blunt way of saying things, but she actually has a big heart for those who are willing to put up with her eccentricities. She is especially close to Sakamichi, who seems especially unfazed by Makishima's personality and looks up to her (both literally and figuratively) for advice.
