Redemption

named for the miracle he was born with, for the magical fabric stitching together a body reborn and the glittering fins lining his spine and underbelly alike. it's unknown what exactly must have happened to his egg that he would hatch like this, remade anew without his grandparents' curse visible in his scales, but he is celebrated for the first in his line to escape the curse in such a momentous event

his aunt Steelix tried and failed to escape the curse herself, but her hatchlings sometimes emerge from their electrically-charged shells without an ounce of the curse in sight. likewise do his siblings sometimes bear the featherbeard that Sharky boasts himself, but Redemption has had some manner of blessing placed upon him

for it's possible that Flamecaller will free their family from this curse, bless hatchlings at random with new body and soul alike to give them a chance away from the curse that burdens their family

but still such cursed blood flows through his veins, a magic so ancient and cruel that it will take any chance it gets to break free once more, to possess hatchlings of his own with the very curse that he escaped

yet he nests, still, in spite of the curse composing his mother's maw. because he is evidence that there is something to be done about this curse, and his family surrounding him are proof that the curse cannot overwrite the loving presence of a family so caring
