Biography
____________ |
Upon his arrival to the kingdom Sylvain immediately made himself at home in what was once a massive aviary on the edge of the central island, determined to restore the building to its former glory – or at least make it a suitable home for winged creatures. He knows deep down that the aviary is where he’s meant to be. Sylvain wants to be happy here, he really does, but the skydancer is carrying a quiet sort of pain inside. Sylvain won’t ever be complete again, because he had left someone he loved on the ground. The skydancer had once worked on a team of rebels trying to take down a cult, living in a coastal base in Dragonhome. Wolke was a sniper who’d had a legal contract on Sylvain’s heart was one way to put it. They’d been perfect for one another – Wolke had been nihilistic, convinced the world was ending, that there was nothing they could do. A proper ray of sunshine. Sylvain on the other talon had been an optimist, bubbly and cheerful through and through. Hopeful and perhaps a tad naive, trying to grow food for the rebels in a hostile environment. There was nothing but desert and evil inland, and the only water was the salty ocean. Not really the best place for gardening endeavors, or for a wind dragon who likes it humid. Sylvain could lie to himself all he wanted, but Wolke was the only thing keeping him there in that encampment. Wolke had taught him to shoot a crossbow (tried to – the gardener's aim was abysmal), and Syl had attempted to grow flowers just so he could give them to the purple imperial in a miserable little bouquet and watch his face light up. Sylvain doesn't exactly know why he even joined up with the rebels in the first place. Maybe it had just seemed like an adventure at the time, maybe Hinata had just been exceptionally convincing that day. Or maybe he'd taken one look at the adorable imperial standing right next to her and the rest was history. Perhaps the very existence of the Withered Rose Society had just filled Sylvain with righteous fury, and he'd wanted to fight. But some dragons don't want to admit they're cowards. Hinata and her band had a noble cause, but it wasn't his calling. Sylvain had made up his mind – he'd leave in the night. It would hurt Wolke deeply and Hinata would undoubtedly be angry at him, but Syl needed to go. He couldn't stand it, the dry weather and the dust that got into everything. He needed to get away from here, and it didn't matter where he'd go. Maybe back to the Windswept Plateau. As it turned out, fate had things other than the lands of the Windsinger in store for him. Awena had descended from the sky on the night Sylvain had decided to leave, inquiring if he wanted a place to live. As soon as the word Yes left his mouth Awena had taken off there and then, flying a path Sylvain (and anyone else in Sornieth for that matter) didn't recognize. Soaring on warm thermals high above the clouds with only stars and a spirit for company wasn't an experience he'd ever forget. Cyrith's white-stone buildings were beautiful, but Sylvain chose to settle in an abandoned aviary. This was home, with its dirt paths and overgrown gardens and dusty windows. It called to him more than a life on the craggy coasts ever did. The rebels were doing something good, but Sylvain was no hero. All he wanted was to stay in the aviary 'til he died, with the birds and other avian creatures. Oh, if only Wolke were here with me. ![]()
