History:
As a young fae, Runelight yearned to study not only the night sky and arcane magic, but to learn about Sornieth and the dragons that inhabit it. However, given her difficulty to travel, she felt more inclined to learn about the dragon world from other dragon’s experiences rather than firsthand. She also figured that other dragon breeds, with their different backgrounds and skills, could help her discover more about the cosmos.
Thus she decided to found her own clan, inviting any dragons who wished to study the world above them as well as around them. Her magic could only do so much to create a new lair though, so she graciously accepted Imhotep’s offer to join her in her goal. But as the clan slowly grew she soon discovered that not all incoming dragons wanted to study the world. Some simply wanted a new home where they would not be criticized for their differences, while others desired a new purpose in life. Compassion filled her heart, and she soon decided to dedicate the clan not only towards discovery but also towards acceptance for all. Therefore, when there is room, Runelight will accept almost any dragon with open arms into her clan, even if her arms are quite small.


Quirks:
Once a fae, Runelight became a nocturne by accident when her former mate Runewald, not realizing what he had, evoked the magic of a nocturne breed change scroll. She managed to push him away as the scroll began to glow, but in the meantime became transformed herself. She quickly adjusted to her new form though, and actually preferred it to her fae body. The only major adjustment was the lack of frills on her head, but when she was a fae Imhotep had helped her learn how to speak with intonation and more typical body movement. However, on occasion she still slips into a monotone voice.


A Story-Arcane Haiku:
Not long after the clan was formed, Runelight received notice of a contest among the arcane clans: compose a haiku representing the Arcane element, the Starfall Isles, the Arcanist, and/or the principles that Arcane dragons follow. She found the contest interesting, but not being much of a poet, she first disregarded it.
One night though, she was looking into the night sky, observing the stars and the inky blackness that surrounded them. It occurred to her how much the night sky was like one’s mind and memories: there is a vast amount of knowledge, but any one dragon can only know small fragments of it. That knowledge is like little stars, and what one is “in the dark about” is the surrounding void. She quickly realized the metaphor that she created, and, remembering the contest, wrestled with the syllables until a haiku was formed: She submitted the poem the next day, and a few days later received a pink neck bow as the third place prize. From then on she wore that neck bow as a reminder to herself and others not just of her brief foray into poetry, but also the moral the haiku told. The other clan members liked the poem enough that they agreed with the clan leaders to adopt the clan motto:
“Fill the Mind with Starlight.”
