He looked up at the Tower.

It stood partially among a cleared space, partially obscured by the surrounding trees. Despite the damp conditions of the surrounding land, the Tower remained strangely intact. The civilization that had built it was long gone, but some magic kept the Tower going. The dappled sunlight and its immaculate condition did little to make it look less threatening, less forboding.

Something about this place just wasn't right.

Mocha squinted. He thought he had seen some movement through one of the Tower's windows, but that could have easily been his imagination. Or if it was movement, surely it could have been something innocent. No, surely not, he admitted to himself. No large animal would make its home that high up - in such an unnatural structure - and no harpies nor blacktalon beastclan had been seen in these parts in living memory.

Two things happened at once. First, Mocha registered a streak launching itself from one of the windows, coming straight at him. In his head, a cacophony of voices started clamering, making it hard to focus on what was happening. Second, something barreled into him from the side, bowling him over and completely stunning him. However, he was pushed out of the way of the mass coming from the window.

"Fool," spat another's voice next to him, as he came to his senses and his feet. He turned to see a fellow dragon wrestling with what looked to be an incorporeal shadow.

That was the day he met Java, and saw what the Tower contained for the first time.
