Biography

Combat Instructor
Prayer Saethuryx
Physical and Social Characteristics
Hatchyear: -72 AS
Mate: Sylphaeri
Closest Friends: Aesin and Eryth
Prayer is a small but surprisingly strong mirror dragon with a layer of extremely dense hide that helps mitigate attacks that would leave severe injuries on other dragons. She typically wears armor as well to further defend herself when combat is expected, as her rather low pain tolerance usually negates much of her defensive capabilities. Nevertheless, she remains steadfast when protecting her clan is involved, and will often remain standing even after sustaining great injury (and the corresponding pain) when her friends require it. During dire situations, Prayer can be quite the no-nonsense individual, ensuring the safety of her clan with a devotion that is only matched by her mate.
Prayer trains many young dragons for exaltation or for whichever calling they desire to pursue, protecting them as well as she can on her own. This usually ends well, but Imogine, Aesin, or Yadira tag along in reserve for all of her training trips to assist Prayer and her group whenever necessary. With this position, she also makes the vast majority of the clan's income. She usually returns to the island completely exhausted after a long day's work, but very much enjoys coming home to see it completely cleaned with dinner and her mate waiting patiently for her safe return.
Though she rarely speaks of it, Prayer's second set of eyes don't sense heat as they would with other Mirror dragons. Instead, they weakly sense disturbances in magic in the environment, usually as bursts of light that vary slightly depending on the element and the caster. This anatomical anomaly is likely due to the same experiment that was done on Sylphaeri and Eryth, and can be used to detect Ipheren or her mate at great distances. Unfortunately, it also causes both Ipheren and her mate to shine quite brightly when close by.
Prayer says that the flight to her usual training grounds is just a convenient substitute for endurance training, but her condition could be why her training sessions always occur far from Ipheren. Thankfully this hasn't caused any issues, as her tailcuffs acting as a beacon in the night has saved multiple trainees from being lost during the return trip.
History
Prayer has always been protective of her clan and wishes to help others in times of need, but didn't always have the confidence she should with her abilities. Even when she was relatively young, Prayer had been exceptionally strong; a trait that saved Sylph and the rest of the clan during a Wildclaw attack in the clan's weakest moments.
As she was the only physical combatant within the clan, Prayer was completely self-taught from her own experience in battle with Sylphaeri staying close behind to heal or fight alongside her. She became quick to strike or flee and the two formed a close bond fighting side-by-side over the years, and then decades, that had passed. They shared very similar goals, but while her soon-to-be mate chased the power necessary to protect his clan with reckless abandon, Prayer was always cautious or hesitant to do so.
When the two of them eventually had hatchlings, Prayer was initially optimistic, but later devastated. With both her and Sylphaeri being affected by whatever experiment was done on their eggs, she knew that there was a risk that her hatchlings may have some hardship during their development, but she didn't expect the magnitude of the toll it took on them.
Over the years that followed, she worked with Sylphaeri to soothe the hatchlings as they awoke with manaburns. While Sylphaeri tried to find a way to save them, Prayer tried to spend as much time as she could with them. Watching over them, reading to them, caring for them, and regularly asking Yadira or Sylphaeri to heal them would take up her entire day and night.
They were able to make it to adulthood with how rapidly they grew and developed, but Prayer and Sylphaeri's efforts were futile. In the space of only two decades, only ashes remained.
Their deaths broke Prayer. One of them had grown to the point where they had children of their own with another clan, but they disappeared as well. Sylphaeri grieved with her for quite some time, but she was especially inconsolable. She continued to get comfort from Sylphaeri, Yadira, and surprisingly Eryth, who was usually much more abrasive. Slowly, she began to recover, and wholeheartedly agreed with Sylphaeri to stay as partners in life, but to never have hatchlings together again.
In appreciation of his support for her, Prayer began training Eryth. She had difficulty with doing so, not exactly knowing how to translate her mastery into instructions that would work for him, and eventually became more doubtful of her ability to teach. Prayer's doubt in her ability to fight shortly followed as she realized she had fairly low pain tolerance in comparison to other dragons of her breed while also having no formal training to her name.
Prayer continued to get encouragement from her friends, especially Eryth, and slowly became more comfortable with her new position as something of a combat instructor. Dragons began to come to her for basic training, and she gained a strong reputation as a teacher. Decades later, when the clan moved to an island in the Hoverview Vale, she was training dragons regularly throughout the day with high success rates.
It's true that Prayer couldn't tolerate the same amount of pain that Eryth could and some dragons may sneer at her lack of form or grace in battle, but it was simply a part of who she was. Her friends had already come to terms with her condition, and looking back on her successes, she eventually began to accept it as well. Eventually, Prayer became more content with her position in the clan knowing that her strength in both body and character are greatly appreciated.
Most importantly for her, Prayer saw her role as a way to give dragons the strength they needed to survive, so that their families may never endure the same hardship she faced with her hatchlings.
Prayer's Desk
Prayer has a couple textbooks on her desk for advanced combat training that are written by great scholars from other clans. They're probably worth a fortune, but she wouldn't mind someone taking a quick peek.

There are also a few scraps of paper with her own writing, but only one of them is legible:
