No-one is quite sure why Cleo chose the Breach Hotel as her retirement home, and she's certainly not telling. A high society socialite (technically retired), she still receives far more invitations than she has the time to go to. Behind the glitz and the glam, however, is an arcane scientist of fearful intelligence. All but her earliest work was published under a pseudonym, and for those in the know her laboratory was one of the scientific wonders of Sornieth. Ostensibly retired from studies as well as parties, it's a poorly kept secret that she paid Lisk a quite phenomenal amount of treasure for construction of a private 'dressing room' and the transport of nearly a hundred well wrapped and padded crates.

Cleo has survived two husbands so far, and has no plans for another - which may be a good thing, given the suspicious circumstances under which her previous ones passed away or vanished. Asking about them will get you no more than 'The past is in the past, dear, the poor things'. Rumours vary from inheritance funding to jealous attempts to take credit for her work, but no-one has quite dared to bring them up to her face. The fact that her enchanted parasol so closely resembles her missing second husband is nothing more than a tribute to his memory, of course.

She and Shiemi have a very friendly rivalry over who can have the fanciest getup for completely ordinary events.
