Era is the 9th child of the Era lineage. Every year, a new Child of Era is born at the start of the Years of Light, marking when the dark years of Myth ended. The Era children each have personalities and characteristics that reflect the Era to come. For this, they are studied scrutinizingly by Seers and historians alike. Since they carry great knowledge of the future, they are likewise dangerous in the wrong hands. Because of this, the powers were granted by the Tidelord to the Silence Clan long ago, when the first Era was born, knowing that these powers would stay a secret here. The lineage has continued in the Clan ever since.

The Era children are partially the essence of Time made flesh. Their lives shape, and in turn are shaped, by time itself. However, they are also born with a great curse; none of them shall live longer than exactly one Era, upon which's end they shall hatch a single nest and perish. From the nest of the old Era, a new one rises.
