Biography
she/her
Babylon was praised soon after she was born. A chosen one, they said, a prodigy. A perfect servant of the cause. Within the Driftwood Drag, the Leader trained Babylon into a paladin. They said she was a devoted weapon, and Babylon was so proud. They told her that only the highest members wore metal jaws, a sign of unwavering loyalty, and Babylon had the metal locked around her skull with honor. She was the head paladin, and she accepted her purpose of fulfilling the Leader's ambitions of power. Nothing more, nothing less.
If she knew at the start that the Leader would discard her like the toy of a contagious hatchling, Babylon thinks she would still accept her fate. The betrayal was so sudden, Babylon could hardly understand what was happening when claws slashed against her and tossed her into the depths of the sea to drown. Did they ever acknowledge her enough to see she was a fathom? That, or they were relieved to stop pretending to care about her.
Babylon spent a long time alone, drifting through the seas and flinching at anything that came too close. Jerico ran into her one day, and instantly the two of them silently vowed to stay together. They weren't family or lovers or friends, they were each others anchors; the only dragon they could trust. The Unfathomable Odyssey spread throughout Sornieth, it was impossible for any fathom to not hear the tales of other pods joining clans and joining larger society. Babylon and Jerico crawled out of the waves onto the Windswept Plateau, and Fir offered them a space with open arms. The two joined the clan, but neither were eager to be social. Babylon hadn't spoken a word since she put on the metal jaw, and she felt sick at the idea of trying to start now.
Babylon feels adrift, lost without a purpose or identity. Her whole life was spent in devotion to beliefs and ideas that weren't her own. But no one here has tossed her aside yet, so Babylon supposes she will stay.
