With a swampy dull, stone bound hide, Mafdet spends most of his time idling in dark areas like a living gargoyle. He has a mysterious ability very unusual to his breed, but he is able to read vibrations through the air and in the ground. Not only can he feel friends or foe approaching miles before the lair can even be spotted, but he can sense the vibrations coming from living beings, from their heart beat, and even from muscles tensing. Many of his clan mates have tried to convince Mafdet to use this precise ability for battle as it would give him a fierce advantage over opponents. Mafdet instead, rarely chooses to fight, but acts as a mediary between clan members and even dragons outside the clan. His other talent lies in being completely impersonal. He is talented in resolving disputes, but many do not trust him to be a friend since he never takes sides on anything. True to his element, he is as watchful as the earth, and as unmovable as one, but many wonder if this is a part of his personality… or a lack of one.
