Biography

Old name: Zerunal (save for some Izmet-Aika character)
Boldstreak was a wanderer that was rescued by Ranza and Garic while he was doing jobs well beyond his kin. They picked him up, as neither of them felt comfortable with the Fayn being alone.
Boldstreak proved to be a gruff sort, and had hit hard times. A number of loved ones had died in quick succession, and now his beloved companion, his fox Sliver, isn't around for emotional support.
He feels a little babysitted by the crew at first, but with how interesting their journey turns out to be, it acts as a great distraction from it all.
Boldstreak's spiritkeeping medium is Sliver's collar. He has had it refitted to fit around his own neck, allowing him access to the personalized mana inside and act as a Spiritkeeper.

Mount
Boldstreak has taken on a new companion in a riding fox, but with Boldstreak being in mourning, it may have been a bit early for a new pet. The silver-coated Dash seems happy to wait, however, and loyally continues as Boldstreak's mount. He'll be trained for battle...when Boldstreak is ready.
Riding foxes are typically also battle companions, and have been kept by Fayn wanderers for thousands of years. They require personalized training, resulting in them only being kept by wanderers. "Riding" foxes are also known as domestic foxes by larger races, and while they are larger than the average fox, most races wouldn't go so far as to call them rideable.
Most Fayn ride giant rats, with riding foxes being a more specialized mount and aren't overly numerous. Even for Fayn, they can be an unusual sight.
Fayn
A race of large weasel capable of standing on their hind legs, though walking on them can be a bit awkward. Their front paws have a thumb, and their index and middle fingers have elongated claws. After numerous incidents involving other races confusing them for the less sapient varieties of weasel, Fayn started two traditions: they would begin to wear clothes (mostly over their chest; they hate gloves and especially boots), and they would, upon their coming of age, create for themselves a mask that symbolized all they wished to accomplish. Of course the second had other incentives, many of which were cultural (Fayn are known free spirits, but quickly run back to their families if something goes wrong on either side).
Fayn are nothing if not resourceful, energetic, and full of surprises. Not to mention, they are likely the naturally stealthiest race. This doesn't automatically mean they're thieves, but there are certain subsections of the community that are known to hitch rides as part of their subculture. Anything from boats to wagons, these Fayn wish only to see the world, and have little in the way of money to spare.
Spiritkeeper
Spiritkeeper is sometimes called a "mourning class". While it is true that many spiritkeepers remain so indefinitely, most use it to hold on to their companion a while longer.
Spiritkeepers originate from the northern tundra, just south of the Kierian Hierarchy. Here, orcs and Garut work together in conjoined tribes. The practice was discovered long ago, but it is believed that a Garut discovered it through his own mourning process with his mammoth. The practice of creating and creating and burning the totems of dead pets is long-standing, and it isn't far-fetched to say that spiritkeepers evolved from this practice, taking the totem that their pet had had all their life, and keeping it themselves. Essential mana attaches to things that are with people or animals that long, and by keeping these on one's person, that mana can be used and expressed.
The Spiritkeeper way involves invoking something that had been with their pet for an extended period of time. The Garut/Orc practice of keeping a totem in a pet's fur is most effective, but other things work as well. The spiritkeeper invokes this power, and depending on the kind of pet they had, the class acts differently. Weapons include axes, hammers, bows, crossbows, slings, swords, and shields. All two-handed versions of these weapons are allowed as well.
All spiritkeepers may use the trapped "essence" to summon a spectral companion of their pet temporarily. While it may act similar to the original pet, it is not that pet, as necromancy is not involved. It is more akin to a reflection of that pet. Still, it may act as a temporary pet.
