L'atmosfera era pesante e quasi palpabile, quasi si poteva tagliare con un coltello. Nella sua capanna da cacciatrice di insetti e collezionista di farfalle, Sheril osservava con attenzione attorno a sé e aspettò che il sole tramontasse per andare a cacciare gli insetti notturni. Di notte nessuno si muoveva volentieri, perché Lunetta si svegliava e iniziava a circoscrivere la zona, imponendo la regola a Radagon di chiudere i cancelli del nuovo Lair e impedire a chiunque di uscire.
-Alt! Chi va là?!- intimò Radagon. Sheril si avvicinò e lo supplicò di abbassare la voce. -Sono Sheril, devo andare a caccia di insetti.- gli spiegò.
-A quest'ora? Sei impazzita? Sai che nessuno può uscire dal Lair a quest'ora.-
La guardian sospirò: -Dai, Radagon, è solo per rifornire il lair. In questa stagione ci sono un sacco di insetti gustosi che escono fuori di notte e--Assolutamente no.- la interruppe lui. -Non sono cieco né sordo, ho visto e sentito come hanno trattato il povero Gereb, non intendo assolutamente cedere alle tue suppliche.- le disse, con decisione. -Dovrai rinunciare agli insetti notturni per un bel po'.- stabilì e non le permise di replicare, respingendola verso l'interno del villaggio, imponendole di rientrare a casa prima che desse l'allarme. -Perdonami, non è niente di personale, ma non voglio... non voglio subire l'ira di Astor.-
