He was found alone on a glacier near Arcane lands as a hatchling, surrounded by a pool of blood. Why he was there was never more than conjecture. Ketrah was too young to remember properly, but it is rumored that his former clan mates sensed his violent nature and cast him out for their own protection. At any rate, Riveros took Ketrah as apprentice almost immediately when he noticed the other Coatl had a rather terrifying knowledge of how to rend and kill opponents. He figured he could put this "energy" to use and train him to be a healer.

Ketrah learned easily and showed strong aptitude for Plague magic, including necromancy, leading to an almost unhealthy obsession with the condition of Riveros' other apprentice. (Because of this, some say he was actually born under the Plaguebringer's blessing but she rejected him). He is a fair healer, far stronger than Caiatis, and has mastered many of the spells Riveros showed him, as well as cataloguing a impressive list of the effects of various weapons, animals, and diseases. But he will always be a better warrior, which has always made Riveros uneasy and afraid that Ketrah will turn on him at any moment.

One of the things that makes him such a fearsome warrior is his willingness to do whatever it takes to win. He has no morals when it comes to the battlefield, and feels no regret for the atrocities he commits as long as he is sure in the fact that he doing it in the name of his goddess. His warped sense of humor allows him to find amusement even in the thick of battle, which gives him the appearance of a madman and only further terrifies his enemies.

Secretly he feels guilt for defying the Icewarden in favor of the Plaugebringer. During the Crystalline Gala he generally spends the entire time in the wilderness hunting for food and piles of Eternal Snow -- basically as far away from the festivities as he possibly can get.
