Thou hast stolen magic that is not thine own
For this act of greed committed, thou must now atone.
Thou wanted power, then by all means, keep it, use it well
But thine mortal soul shall wither with each begotten spell.
To break this curse, a simple task, return what thou hast took
But marred forever thine soul shall show, thou art still a crook.
Theif, Betrayer, pride driven beast, thine shame shall never end.
On stolen power, not thine own, thou should not e’er depend
Each spell thou cast on thine behalf will ne’er cast as expected
Only spells that help another will work as thou intended.
Selflessness and generosity, traits thou do not possess
Will be thy one salvation, if thou only can confess
To thine own heart, mind, soul, that thou hast made a mistake
Though never truly gone with this, the curse you might just break.

Klepta was never good at following the rules. Or listening to her elders. Or doing what she’s supposed to do in general. She’d been a trouble maker since the day she arrived at the Academy for Magic and Sorcery.
All the professors knew she’d end up in trouble at some point. Prisma in particular watched her closely, waiting for the moment she would make that one mistake that would change her.
They all knew it would happen eventually.
But no one ever realized she’d take it this far.
…
Klepta had heard of the Deed Caster. Everyone had. There had been a lesson on it in one of her classes. The wand, forged from diamonds and gold ore supposedly, that held the secret to ‘more power than any one dragon could handle’ apparently.
Klepta knew she could handle it. She was the best. Better than even that golden suck up Ike, especially since he began hanging out with that cursed wannabe. What a fool. To get cursed, just like that, taking something without knowing what it will do to you.
If you’re not ready to accept the consequences, don’t be stupid.
They’d had thousands of lessons on cursed items, what to look out for, how to break them, all of it. That mediocre wannabe magician couldn’t even hide the fact that he royally screwed up.
Klepta wasn’t about to screw up.
She knew exactly what she was doing.
…
“Klepta, Stop!” Prisma yelled from the other end of the room.
Kelpta was standing by a glass case, rock in hand, about to smash it.
She looked up, and met Prisma’s angry gaze.
“No.” She said with a slightly manic smirk, smashing the glass with no hesitation.
“Klepta, please! I know you are better than this!” Prisma took two steps forward, reaching out with her wings.
“I’m really not.” Klepta said back, her eyes focused on the wand now. The diamond handle and gold, star shaped tip really glistened in this light. She reached towards it.
“Klepta! That wand is cursed! You know that! You know what will happen to you! Look at what happened to Viktor! To me!” Prisma spread her second set of black, shriveled wings, wincing at the pain.
“I don’t want any else to get hurt like this! Please! You have to know that this is a mistake!” She took three more steps towards her.
“You see, that right there is the difference between you and me.” Klepta turned towards Prisma once more, meeting her now frightened eyes for the last time.
“I know about the curse, and I know what taking this wand will do to me.” She reached her claw into the broken case, and clasped it around the wand.
“And I. Don’t. Care.”
Prisma’s eyes widened in fear as Klepta lifted the wand, and began muttering some spell. Brownish-green smoke began pouring from the tip, snaking around Klepta. Klepta’s eyes were the only thing visible now, the rest of her obscured by the swirling mist.
Prisma could hear a dark chuckle, and the green slits narrowed.
“See you real soon.” Kelpta laughed more voraciously now, her mad cackling filling the room.
And then, with a bright flash of light, she was gone.
Prisma was left standing alone, next to the desiccated case. She has tried to reach her before she was spirited off to who knows where. The haunting echos of Klept’s cackle bounced off of the walls for far longer than they should have.
“…[Censored].” Prisma swore, before spinning around and darting out of the room.
She had to get help. Now.
