Hailstorm Tavern Keeper Humble | Caring | Inquisitive Hailstorm has lived in the Southern Icefield for his entire life, and the harsh conditions of his frozen home are no stranger to him. As more and more dragons spread out from their birth territories and settled across Sornieth, Hailstorm witnessed many individuals struggle to adjust to the subzero temperatures and adverse weather of his home. Not one to shy away from dragons in need, the Tundra would open his burrow to travelers as a place of warmth and shelter from the bitter cold of the outside. He never asked for much in return, but took a particular delight in listening to the stories the travelers had to tell. He learned of the lands outside of the Southern Icefield, and of monsters fierce and strong. Although being a Tundra meant he wouldn’t remember the faces he met and the stories he was told overtime, Hailstorm wanted to hear and learn more. He became inspired to construct a tavern, a place that travelers could rest and share stories by the fire with drink and food. Learning of his efforts, many dragons that he had helped before pitched in to repay him, and together they established the Red Maple. The tavern was a hit, bringing in travelers from all around to rest and fill up before they continued on their journeys through the icy lands. Hailstorm could mingle with his guests and listen to their tales. He began to see many regulars and started to keep notes of his guests so that he could remind himself of their identity, should his short memory forget them before the next time they crossed paths. To Hailstorm’s surprise, dragons began to stick around his tavern and establish their own buildings nearby. Homes, farms, shops, and even an arena slowly arose, with the Red Maple at the center of it all. Hailstorm was happy to lend a helping claw to the other dragons getting started, and they began to refer to him as a clan founder and leader of sorts. Though he was honored by their title, Hailstorm remained humble and kind to his newfound community. In recognition of the tavern that brought them all together, the small settlement was named Maple Village. |
