Biography

Aëdon is a character in Greek mythology whose name means "nightingale". She appears in two stories, one set in Thebes and one in Western Asia Minor, that both include filicide and explain the origin of the nightingale. In one story, Aëdon is the daughter of Pandareus of Ephesus and the wife of Zethus, and the mother of Itylus.
