La nuova libreria era ormai quasi pronta... Grazie all'aiuto di Kelsier e Ezra era stato tutto sistemato a tempo di record e appena in tempo per una notizia importante per Astor, a quanto pareva. Entrò a passo sicuro, scostando il pesante tendaggio della stanza centrale e disse: -Scribacchino, segnati questa importante notizia: il clan Charmion ha cambiato nome in Lyndell.-. Barmanou strinse i denti: -Si signore...- non poteva protestare circa quel soprannome ignominioso, aveva ancora addosso i segni della prima volta che aveva osato aprir bocca per contrastare il volere del drago... del nuovo capoclan. Prese un libro da terra e iniziò a scrivere con la penna d'ora portafortuna, con zampa malferma.
-La notizia è sicura?- giravano voci sussurrate e preoccupate. Che intenzioni avevano quelli di Charmion? Prima avevano cambiato nome e ora sembrava si preparassero ad un nuovo trasferimento. -E' vero che torneranno dove stavano una volta? Nel clan della luce?- a parlare era stata Jade e a rispondere fu Granato: -E' questo il problema... non torneranno al clan della luce. Gira voce che si uniranno al clan arcano o forse a quello del ghiaccio.-
Asu aggrottò la fronte: -E perché questo dovrebbe essere un problema?- domandò, senza capire. Granato sospirò: -Si dice che nei territori arcani o forse in quelli del ghiaccio, si trovi un artefatto estremamente potente che possa rendere immortale qualunque drago. Secondo Nyra, Astor si è comprato il favore del clan di Charmion per poter ottenere quell'artefatto.-
Cos'era quella storia?! Miller si era bevuto il cervello per caso?
