Kender

Kender is a Rhettokin, one of the main sapient species that lived in Ichthior before humans arrived. While their appearance depends heavily upon environmental factors, they are generally omnivorous, bipedal mammals covered in earth-toned fur and sporting either large horns or long canine teeth (or very rarely, both). Males tend to be larger, with longer horns or canines, but that isn't always true on an individual basis. They are a very adaptable species and are able to live anywhere from the Frozen North, to the Lost Desert on the continent's equator, to even the magicless wasteland at the southernmost part of Ichthior. There're rumors of clans living exclusively on the mountains that wander aimlessly across the continent, though most don't believe that's true.

Kender is specifically a neyvilin Rhettokin, one of the types that live in the northwest corner of Ichthior. He has a thick brown coat of fur that sheds seasonally and a pair of branching horns that are shorter than the average neyvilin male's. He's able to use water magic, normally using it to pull water out of medicinal plants to make them dry faster, or to clean wounds. However, Kender is not strong enough to directly control blood, something he frequently has to reassure his patients about, sometimes even the ones who grew up with him.

He's knows a lot about medicine, but has a lot of difficulty explaining himself and prefers to work in silence (which sometimes gets awkward when his patient is awake). Rhettokin who don't know Kender well either think he's a noble stoic or just plain rude, but those who do know he just stammers a lot and can't start a conversation to save his life. Despite that, he enjoys his work and seeing injuries and sickness heal.
