Biography

~ - - ~
Bog Shadows are territorial tricksters of The Tangled Wood waterways. The Elder dragons have claim to the best territories, leaving the middle aged ones to the smaller waterways. Watch over the hatchlings is left to the mothers, until the hatchlings have grown into adults. Home base and origin of the Bog Shadows is Driftwood Drag, some Roosts found here are decades old.
Bog Shadows have developed their tricks to use as a self defensive and protective mechanism, with new generations developing camouflage and bioluminescence. They are likely to use both as away to get, passersby, whom they deem to be nonviolent to move away from their homes and young, without harm but little care as to what happens after their trick is played through. Their bioluminescence acts as a flickering wisp or lantern glimpsed through trees and brush, made to mimic those on actual pathways and used to lure away from villages. Those with camouflage live on the outskirts of their villages and act as a first warning system of intruders. If those intruders are deemed to be violent then the outliers are given the authority to deal with them; which often includes jump scares and their, ”slightly” scarier, version of hide and seek.
They do cooperate and aid in studies with the Lightning Flight, but only just barely tolerating the scientists they help. They are more apt to pull their least harmful pranks on longer excursions, much to the chagrin and distain of the scientists, whom often are the targets…or their equipment is. (Quite a few specimens are at the bottom of the Tanggle Wood rivers.)
Their wishes to be left alone have caused their numbers to dwindle and so the younger slightly more social variations have gone outside of Tangled Wood to seek help in restoring numbers. Mostly with neighboring Water Flight and trusted Lightning Flight Scientists.
