I loved you, and I probably still do, And for a while the feeling may remain... But let my love no longer trouble you, I do not wish to cause you any pain. I loved you; and the hopelessness I knew, The jealousy, the shyness - though in vain - Made up a love so tender and so true, As may God grant you to be loved again. Arian once held a position of great power in his old clan in the Arcane region. He was a handsome, intelligent dragon whose charisma helped him work his way up to head of the Captain Guard. But, Arian has a fatal flaw: his greed and jealousy. Although he had it all, he couldn't bear to see others with more than himself, and what he wanted most was to have the most beautiful pearl. After taking his pearl to a witch doctor just outside the region, something went very wrong. The spell would backfire, completely destroying his pearl. Blinded by fury and rage, he would kill the witch and return to the kingdom ashamed and lost. As he dipped into delusion, he began to fear the others finding out of his misfortune, and that he was now a pearl-less pearlcatcher. In a bout of delusional anxiety, he would break into the Patriarchs room and steal his pearl from beneath his nose. Performing such a dishonor amongst Pearlcatchers would mean the most brutal punishment, and unable to face his shortcomings, Arian fled the clan he had called home and found himself amongst the winding trees of the TangledWood. He would take up residence amongst the exiles shortly thereafter, guarding his stolen pearl with his life. Although he had replaced what he lost, a piece of him is still missing. It is thought that Arian's empathy was sewn into his pearl, and upon its destruction, he is as unfeeling as the cold, hard mineral clutched in his claws. |
