LIGHT WITHIN THE DEPTHS
Recieved through a gift from Rare Dreamer, after finding a pair when searching for one to give to Round Ore's sister, she experienced minimal changes, similar to how Swift Night had. It was a bit disappointing.
Pros: Light in the dark? "I'm a lamp. Yaay..."
Cons: She sometimes annoys her sister by glowing at night? Not like she can turn it off.
History
|
Found, hatched and collectively raised in the den of an early Horizon's Kin alongside her sister Blue Gem, Round Ore's life began under the watch of six watchful eyes. The last two however, belonged to Rare Dreamer who first found and then named them both (see Short Story: Cave in). And she seemed more drawn to her sister than Ore herself... Still she tried her best, with her trusty familiar Jug at her side. When asked to get something from the water, the two dusthides would swim over. And yet, despite how her eyes seem to imply some water heritage, it was always Blue Gem who swam just a bit faster. Getting something from small spaces? Clearly a job for the two smallest of the den! If only Blue Gem didnt roll better into a ball to get quickly to one end and back. But hey, it was unfair to an extent, Gem didnt have horns to tuck in. |
And then there was Dreamer's many dug up treasures that eventually piled up too much in the lair. Not to mention what the others also hunted, gathered, found and stored too. Though young, Ore and Gem volunteered to try and sell some stuff, help their home with some more funds to get better furnishing, maybe proper equipment for Dreamer too. If only the dock's market didnt like Gem more...
Round Ore tries her best. She really does! There doesnt seem to be much use in the lair for her at this point, but she wants to help, so market it is. If Gem is more liked? Fine, she can work with that. She can build up a proper stand, maybe even a proper shop! Then their group wont be so easily overlooked, they can live much nicer and thank her for it!
That's the plan, and she is determined to go through with it.
She just hopes it will eventually pay off, because as much as their home may grow, she's still just, the stall clerk. But that would only be for now! ... right? (See Short Story: Market Thief)
Just sometimes though, it be nice to have someone who did more than just listen. And unexpectedly, she found that someone in a dragon she had rolled over after multiple pursuits.
Hearty River, the thief who would and did terrorize her small stand for a while by stealing some gems, which wasnt good for a small business like their own.
She wanted to claw his eyes at first, but during one of their pursuits, both fled into a cavern at the shores which proceeded to trap them inside. Wether they wanted to or not, they were forced to work together and find a way out. The cavern was small, cold, and time seemed to bleed together after a while.
They complained and fought at first because of the speed, but because Ore couldn't roll as fast as him he had to slow down if he didnt want to loose her as a light source.
And when tempers cooled and fights died down, they continued talking... And how passionate and happily Hearty River would talk about the sea, she did find somewhat endearing. He was a criminal, she wouldn't and couldn't fall for him, not so quickly. But when they got out as the sun set beyond the Horizon, once Round Ore finally returned home the next time the two of them saw each other wasn't so bad. Even if he did get the promised claw to the face, just over the cheek this time.
Maybe this could work out after all. Though it shouldn't, her morality told her so. It really shouldn't...
