Lux looked out over the murky waters, moonlight gleaming over the silent seas as he drew his cloak nearer. Tonight was his night to watch.

Every night, the boat would glide out into the bay and around the reef, making sure no one was drowning, no one was venturing into the Dark. Every morning, it would dock at the lighthouse, and he would take his shift to make sure the light shut off, that sailors were staying out of the reef.

It wasn't always his job to do one or the other. He and the other one would switch off, so they could each get some rest for the next crisis they had to prevent.
