❝ I had almost forgotten about myself.
But he remined me once again who I was and the path I should follow. ❞

1. The Matriarch

How many centuries passed after the Matriarch lost her path? She didn't kept a anymore, didn't remembered anymore. She just disappeared from her old home and tried just existing, getting by in her existence, sure she would never find herself to be the same again.

All she felt for a long time was anger. The Wrath of the sun and the moon, the light and the shadows, all in one single creature. She didn't wanted anyone close to her, she couldn't bare it anymore.

The shine that once existed, was no more for Raven. Or so she thought. So she believed so vividly it was the only truth possible for her, and accepting this truth was more comfortable than waiting for a miracle, a sudden change in plans by the universe, and so she kept on going, even if it was without a place of her own, since this still felt so painful for her.

2. The Path

It was in one of her journeys in the the frozen tundra of the Reclaimer's Glacier , seeking for her path once again that she encountered another one. A dragon, lost in their own path, silently watching the time pass right in front of them. He was in a rough shape, with the frost starting to build up in his horns and wings, but he didn't reacted to his situation with despair, he seemed to almost embrace his situation, almost like it was his porpuse to be right there, right now, waiting for someone to come for him.

When Raven got closer she could see under the snow that his skin and fur was lightly colored in pink tones, like it was touched by the softest clouds in the early hours of the morning, and it was such a delicate shade of warm colors it appeared almost impossible for Raven to associate them to the the ammount of sadness she could see behind those eyes.

She quickly came closer to the dragon and started getting the snow off of him, using a gentle fire magic to help warm his body little by little.

"Why are you laying here in the middle of nowhere?"

She then asked for the dragon. He was an Aberration, she quickly noticed the second head observing her, and with her question just one of them seemed to give a reaction. She almost believed she saw a smile for a split second and the dragon finally stood up, although his movements were slow and cautious because of the cold.

"I guess...I don't need to anymore."

His voice was weak and shaky, but was also so gentle that it left the Matriarch flustered, without a proper response. She didn't understand what he meant by it, but worried about the well being off the dragon, she quickly pushed that aside so she could take him to a safer, warmer place.

Raven thought she would meet more resistance of the other dragon but he quietly accepted her help, and they soon enough started talking, when the warmt and the delicious soup started doing it's magic. Sero was his name, and he liked hearing her stories, and Raven soon found herself telling him tales of journeys she had, filling that make shift shelter with the warmt of memories she had almost forgotten how good they felt to have, and soon enough Sero warmed up and started telling his own tales of learning, misfortunes and self discovery in the world.

They could relate a lot to each other when they started sharing their own experiences.

Sero was also alone, and found himself lost in his own path to a point that he started to accept the dark destiny that was slowly creeping up on him. Different than Raven, things seemed to have weakened Sero to such a point, it almost extinguishing all the desire and fight he had inside of him. The Anger the Matriarch had, was equivalent to sadness in the Patriarch.

The next two days they just stayed in the same place, they couldn't find the will to go on their way back to the Starfall Islands, afraid that after that they would lost themselves once again.

Sero was always sincere, he didn't hid the hurt and the confusion he felt about the world around him and still he could make Raven laugh at the silly things he would think of at the same time, the two heads giving a funny insight of his tragic life.

For anyone else, he might have been confusing to understand, considering there were two brains trying to work out the same feelings, but for Raven was so naturally easy to understand almost immediately what he meant and to talk him out of it, and because of it, she felt an almost immediate need to protect that delicate beeing that seemed so lost and overwhelmed by the world around him. She had the need to make a safe place for that creature that so quickly turned so precious to her.

So she decided she would not let him go, because Sero was surely part of the path she should go on now.

Maybe that's what he meant by not needing to be in alone in the cold anymore.

(Note from Sero: The following art is from a dark moment in Raven's life, and although it already passed, I don't think it's fair to erase it, because it's part of what makes Raven the dragon he is now, as this gorgeous matriarch. So I'll keep it archived as part of her story.)

The Matriarch.
