Biography
You remember that time when there was nothing? Reality was a void - yet reality could not exist, for there was nothing, not a concept of that nothingness, not a thought or conscious effort to understand it - there was simply nothing. But I digress. There was, in fact, one small thing. Potential.
A flame enkindled itself into existence, the crimson tongues of fire snaking into the unknown. A soft breeze danced across the abyss, causing sparks to leave their incinerating origins to follow the path of the squalling winds. Yet the sparks died. They died, just like everything else that had ever set foot in this cruel realm.
Another flame joined the first, but it burned stronger, with more determination, sure to conquer the world. The first flame winked out, and was soon abandoned by the whimsical draft, who raced with great urgency to the new fire, like a child lost in the darkness of truth. The breeze strengthened as it reached its new landmark, whistling lightly through the licking flames as it accelerated.
This repeated, another flame burned more hungrily, the small breeze growing and racing, until an inferno was battered by the galloping gale. Millions of embers flew with the flames, forming a labyrinth of patterns in the twisting flurry. Feathers began to pattern the relentless currents, until the embers formed the gleaming outline of a dragon.
The embers glowed white hot, blinding the eyes of the universe. The haze faded slowly, until you could see her standing there, her claws pressing into the fertile soil that now lined the ground. Viridian stocks of grass pushed up from the hell below, growing taller and taller until they completely hid the her form. Life discharged from the bowels of the universe, and a sphere of searing light birthed from the horizon, until the overwhelming brightness consumed the world that had just been born.

That is the story at least. The story that Veil always tells when asked of her origins. As a stern voice of reason within the clan, nobody pesters her further with their inquiries, though they know she tells stories not of truth, but of imagination.
Few actually know where she came from, nor why she refuses to reveal it. Some speculate she had a traumatic past, while others don’t put it past her that she just enjoys all of the theories the hatchlings muster up too much to let them cease.
But, Veil is known for her stories, almost constantly babbling away, giving life and personality to the simplest of events. The hatchlings practically worship her… she’s the first dragon they go to when they feel a sleepless night in store for them.
Veil is discreet when it comes to goodbyes and apologies, but they say there is one dragon that her heart is completely devoted too. Gecigift, her mate, is the one dragon who knows of her true origins.
In her birthclan, she was an outcast, tormented for her quirks - which she would prefer remain private. Shunned all her life, the first chance she got, she was off to serve the Flamecaller. Gecigift is the one reason that she is not fighting in the fiery depths of the Great Furnace at this very moment.
He was passing through, and caught her on her way, and…. let’s just say that before he didn’t believe in love at first sight. Sounds cheesy, but he says there was just something about the gleam in her eye when he saw her.
He saved her, and brought her home - where she remains today.
