Biography
The stone warrior opened her eyes and watched as torchlight bounced off the walls nearby. She stayed still and silent as the torchlight receded and the intruder left the cave for good. Only then did she stir to breathe in. True to her species, she could hold her breath for years once at a certain age. However, she was still very young, and could only hold it for a few hours.
She focused again, shifting her soul into the stone of the mountain. She heard the whispers of the earth; they told a tale of destruction and loss. Her people were gone. Disgusting beasts of plague and evil roamed the blazing mountain village. There was nothing left but the dust of her kin.
The stone warrior shed a single tear. Her species was known for stoicism in the face of adversity and hardship. The same species now wiped to extinction. But she couldn’t dwell on it all now; she was unsafe. She had two options: stay in this dark cave and face potential starvation or discovery, or risk the trek to the Verdant Jungle.
She decided to stay in the cave for a while longer. The stone warrior waited. And waited. And waited still. Eventually, she grew hungry. She decided to venture outside the cave. After all, if a few days have passed, maybe the coast was clear enough for her to escape to those wild and untamed woods. She would certainly be safe from harm there; that monster had no idea she was alive.
And so she stirred again. When she opened her eyes, she saw a wisp. It bobbed in the air, glowing an ethereal green.
“My daughter. You must survive,” it whispered.
