Biography
Orlena was old.
Well, not old-old. Still young enough to have a snap to her wings, a sparkle to her eyes, a sharpness to her claws. Young enough to have hopes of hatchlings and adventure and a great many things that any dragon might want.
She still had fish to catch, plants to nibble at, fields to run in… dragons to meet, and creatures to see, and games to play, clouds to watch and rivers to swim in.
Old, maybe, compared to the little ones she often saw in her old den. Compared to her own little ones, who had been sent out into the world on their own journeys.
Old, maybe. But still too young to be sacrificed to the Great Ones.
Too young to fight in the great war that tore across the land.
And so she settled down, safe in a new lair - with Temujin, and Caera, and the others who would be to join them.
The first, perhaps, of the many unwanteds who would find their place in the Sanctuary of the Den.
