some notes:

• he's more or less a fisherman, a role he first took up when Saide was understandably worried about him wrecking his farm. it was originally meant to be something to keep him busy with, but he's since come to love the relaxing and repetitive motions of swimming, catching fish, and chucking them into a basket.
- he's mastered the art of catching them gently, too; Saide, again understandably, didn't like cooking with maimed ingredients.
- he's found some incredible secluded fishing spots in his time!

• you'd be hard-pressed to meet a dragon happier than Renji. very few have seen him in a state other than smiling or laughing about something, and smaller dragons must tread carefully around him lest his excitement to talk to them leads to nearly trampling whoever caught his attention.
- he knows to be careful around hatchlings, but for whatever reason, small (adult) dragons don't trigger the same instinct.

• pleasing and befriending him is the easiest thing in the world; include him in literally anything, share your food with him, or gift him a cool looking rock and he'll be willing to go to the ends of Sornieth for you.

• there's no one in the world he respects and admires more than his husband.

he'd heard of Light's monarchy before, but he didn't know any real details about it; when he first landed in the Ruins and came across Saide, he was convinced he must be a royal of some sort. the prince, surely? everyone always said the monarchs were the most beautiful in all the land— are you telling him he's not a monarch?

coming from the Wilds, most of his allies and enemies alike were much bigger than him and colloquially much stronger. he'd never been more awestruck than when he learned how strong this graceful, dainty little Skydancer was— learned that he was doing all his farmwork alone! Renji first thought that lugging a sack of fertilizer from Point A to Point B couldn't be that difficult and promptly fell to the ground after far too eagerly overestimating his own strength.

Renji felt like Saide was from a whole different world. how could someone that tiny be so strong? how could someone who's, in Saide's own words, "nothing more than a laborer" be that elegant? how could he hide all his strength and ruggedness behind such a gorgeous exterior so effortlessly???

he singlehandedly tore apart Renji's perception of the people around him without even trying to. it didn't take long before he was following him around like a lost puppy, surely getting in his way multiple times as he asked what this did, how that thing worked, why Saide needed this, etc. he was the very first person he encountered in the Ruins and, Eleven above, he was so cool.
