Biography
Named for the goddess of strife and discord. She was not invited to the wedding of Peleus and Thetis, and when she learned of this, she went to the wedding anyway and threw a golden apple into the midst of the crowd that read "to the fairest." The ensuing argument between Athena, Aphrodite, and Hera led to Paris, prince of Troy being called in to mediate.
Paris eventually chose Aphrodite, who promised him the most beautiful woman in the world as his wife. That woman was Helen of Sparta, and Paris took her to Troy, thus sparking the Trojan War.
