Many a creature of time immemorial inhabit the Loom. Amygdala is one such creature.

Amygdala was among the first beasts of scraping claws and clacking chains the Cryptkeeper encountered after his death, though certainly not the oldest. It explained, through a hissing voice that sounded more stolen than natural, that an Overseer, in ages past, had broke off from his Order to seek her. To trap her. And that he succeeded.

Somewhat.

One lone Overseer-turned-Seeker had not been enough to quell her, nor to shackle her. At least, not permanently. Evidence of the Shade-thing's escape could be found through the wrought iron still clinging to its limbs, black mist dripping from its maw in variable increments. Her powers depleted still by the iron flecks dotting her crooked frame, she implored the Cryptkeeper to allow her entry into the Loom he so closely guarded. In return, she would grant him freedom from his burden, and would even permit him access to her silk, with which to make weapons he would train the next generation of Loom custodians on. He obliged.

It was not refuge the beast sought, he would come to find. It was, in fact, revenge.
