Yelcan runs a refinery whose blazing depths can forge even the toughest of metals. As a master of metallurgy, he can often identify even trace elements of any metal just at a glance, and crafts bars of undisputed quality. Yelcan's smelter is far more advanced than the traditional bloomery, having been birthed from a genius combination of the Ashfall Waste's knowledge of fire and the advanced technologies of the Shifting Expanse. Only Yelcan himself possesses the skills and knowledge to operate it.

Rather than display the physique and musculature one would expect of a man in his craft, Yelcan appears surprisingly bookish. This is because the operation of his specialized smelter does not require brawn so much as brains. Yelcan is actually skilled in magic, specifically magic regarding the transmutation of metal materials into golem assistants. These tiny helpers often run the simple tasks within his shop and help with any heavy lifting he isn't capable of.

His fur is often singed at the edges thanks to stray embers. Contrary to his frazzled look, however, Yelcan consistently stays on the cutting edge of fashion. This is because he burns his clothes so much at his job that he's constantly having to buy replacements. He cares little for his thick and messy head of hair for much the same reason - fire. No point in tending to something that's just going to get burnt off!
